WHY YALLA! ?

Relief agencies and non-profits are stretched beyond their capacity in meeting the considerable health, educational, and financial needs of families forced to migrate due to the Syrian crisis. Almost 300 Syrian refugees now live in New Jersey, and the groundswell of volunteerism they have attracted is critical to helping them rebuild their lives in our state.

With proper volunteer vetting and coordination in place, relief agencies can partner with volunteers like you to effectively help families gain language proficiency, social acceptance, and economic independence.

Yalla! is a software that allows relief agencies and volunteers to customize volunteer participation, and thus effectively support refugee families.

We need both long-term and short-term volunteers:

* Long-term: If you want to provide ongoing support to a family through the resettlement process.

* Short-term: If you want to provide short-term services such as tutoring, moving, or driving.

Given that we are working with a vulnerable population, all volunteers must undergo a background check. Yalla! facilitates this through a simple link on the Get Involved! page.

You will also need to complete a profile that helps us understand your interests, skills, and availability. The more complete your profile, the better we can match you with a family or task.

If you prefer to donate goods or money, you can skip the background check and proceed to the Donations page.

Thank you for your interest! We look forward to working with you.
